AstroTours Shines Bright on 9NEWS: Expanding Our Reach with a Special Stargazing Event in the Heart of Denver

We’re thrilled to share that AstroTours was recently featured on 9NEWS, highlighting a special stargazing session in Denver’s Civic Center Park! While our passion for astronomy often takes us to darker skies in places like Boulder, Breckenridge, and Castle Rock, we were delighted to bring the magic of the cosmos right into the city center to reach more people than ever before.

In the segment, 9NEWS photojournalist Austin Knox captured the excitement of an evening spent peering through our high-powered telescopes to glimpse the moon, planets, stars, and even some nebulae—all from the vibrant heart of downtown Denver. Families, couples, and curious onlookers joined our astronomers to learn about the night sky, share stories, and soak up the wonder of our universe. “It’s amazing what you can see even in the middle of Denver,” one attendee said. “In a world that’s so routine and dominated by obligations, to come somewhere so close and appreciate something so large is eye-opening.”

From the moon to bright stars and beyond, our astronomers demonstrated that you don’t need pitch-black skies to find wonder in the heavens—you just need a good telescope and a little guidance. While city lights can limit deep-sky views, these special Civic Center events allowed newcomers, families with young children, and busy locals to experience the excitement of looking through a telescope for the first time.

Regular Tours in Darker Skies

Of course, if you’re looking for an even more immersive cosmic adventure, our signature programs in Boulder, Breckenridge, and Castle Rock can’t be beat. These locations are farther from city lights, offering darker skies where we can delve deeper into the night sky’s hidden treasures—distant galaxies, faint nebulae, and glittering star clusters. Our smaller group tours at these sites provide a more intimate experience, with ample time to ask questions and explore celestial wonders at your own pace.

Why Bring Stargazing Downtown?

AstroTours was honored to partner with Civic Center Park for a special event series designed to broaden our reach and introduce stargazing to folks who might not otherwise have the chance to travel to darker skies. By setting up high-powered telescopes in an accessible urban location, we were able to share our passion for astronomy with a diverse audience—families with strollers, tourists exploring downtown, and even longtime Denver residents who were just walking by and decided to join the fun.

Looking Ahead

While these city events have been a fantastic way to connect with more people, we remain committed to our darker sky programs for those who crave a truly immersive stargazing experience. Whether you join us at Civic Center Park for a casual session or venture out to Boulder, Breckenridge, or Castle Rock for an unforgettable deep-sky excursion, AstroTours is here to help you forge a deeper connection with the cosmos.

We’re grateful to 9NEWS for capturing the magic of our Civic Center stargazing and to everyone who braved the cool evening to share in the wonder of the universe. Stay tuned for more updates on our next city appearances and don’t forget to book a tour in one of our darker-sky locations if you’re ready to go further and see more.

Clear skies always,The AstroTours Team
